• The trustees of a long established charity client based in the South West region discovered that a significant fraud had been committed against it by a trusted senior member of staff over a period of several years. We advise the trustees as to how they should deal with the situation, and liaise with the Charity Commission and other authorities and ensured that matters were dealt with to the satisfaction of the Commission. We have subsequently advised the charity in relation to recovery of the lost funds and recovery has now been made to the charity in full.
• Acted for a charity based in Devon where the trustees were finding it increasingly difficult to operate the charity effectively and comply with increased regulation. The trustees had identified another charity operating nationally which was able to take over the running of the charity and do this more effectively and efficiently. We assisted the trustees through the process of merging with the national charity including negotiating and documenting the terms of the transfer of the charity’s assets and assisting with the subsequent dissolution of the charity.
