Trust Schools

Trust schools have been in the education arena since the publication of the white paper “Higher Standards Better Schools for All” in October 2005. Since then over 60 schools have changed to Trust Status post September 2007.

The principle of setting up Trust School Status is to enable a school to formalise its relationship with other existing partners or to establish new relationships with entities that can bring a new dimension to the schools ethos. The Trust is a charity that must aim to raise standards through collaboration and should provide the school with energy and expertise.

The concept of Trust School Status is quite a difficult one and it raises many questions and issues for the school leadership team, its governing body and its most important stakeholders, its students and parents.

We have run a number of seminars and presentations on the legal implications of changing to Trust Status, throughout the south west. We are very happy to provide a presentation to individual Governing Bodies if requested to do so as the subject raises a lot of questions and queries across the range of employment, governance, property, liability and Trust issues.
