Mock interview practice
We have taken part in a number of mock interview programmes around Plymouth schools. These have varied from talking to students about how to present themselves at interviews, giving advice on dress, how to engage with the interviewer and the importance of preparation. From prospective hairdressers, teachers, veterinary nurses and managers, the enthusiasm and focus has been noticeable. We have considered CV’s and given feedback on their form and content.
School Visits
Different members of staff have been asked to visit schools in Devon to talk about a career in law; what is involved in the training and how long it takes. The law is not just about going to court or criminals and most students are surprised at the range of areas covered and the variety and number of the different career paths that can be followed within a law firm. We are always happy to answer questions from students with career enquries – ask to speak to our Student Law Advisor, an existing trainee who wil be very familiar with the highs and lows of pursuing a career in law.
Student Surgeries
We have provided Student Surgeries in Cornwall, providing help and advice on a range of topics. Students have been free to drop in to seek advice in confidence, as they have needed it.
