Legacy Management
We offer a progressive and supportive approach to legacy management with expertise in areas including estate administration and the interpretation of Wills. Our team includes trust and tax specialist lawyers including STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) members. We are happy to provide you with one off advice or help with the day to day management of your legacy files on a delegated authority basis. If the charity is executor then we can take on the administration of the estate for you or provide you with assistance as and when you need it.
Our experience includes advising on:
- The analysis of estate accounts, including solicitors’ fees, lay executors’ expenses and Inheritance Tax calculations
- The validity of Wills
- Bequests to incorrect charity names
- Ex-gratia payments
- Appropriation of assets, including consideration of Section 36 Charities Act 1993
- Permanent endowment
- Life interest trusts
- Executors’ duties/beneficiaries’ rights
We also have experience in dealing with estate administration where there is a foreign element or complex issues surrounding the domicile of the deceased.
