The Next Generation: Employment Law for Junior Managers
Who should attend?
Junior managers, those who are new to management roles, and employees with responsibility for managing or supervising staff.
What’s covered?
Employment law is a minefield. As soon as an employee has responsibility for looking after other staff they enter that minefield. Our hands-on and down to earth approach aims to prevent recently appointed managers and supervisors treading on a mine.
This course covers:
- where does employment law come from?
- introduction to concepts of unfair dismissal, discrimination, redundancy, contracts of employment and change management
- styles of management and allegations of bullying
- spotting stress and doing something about it
- do’s and don’ts of discrimination
- handling trade union and employee representatives
- absence management and disability
- recruitment and termination
We use a range of interactive techniques and deliver practical tips to ensure participation by all delegates, improve retention of information and to make the session as informal as possible.
What will delegates achieve?
By the end of the session your delegates will:
- feel more confident in handling difficult situations
- understand the background to employment law
- recognise potential problem areas
- be able to manage their staff to minimise the risk of tribunal claims
- be confident in dealing with problem employees
- be able to pass on sensible and practical guidance to their teams
How long is it and how much?
This workshop session runs for 6 hours (with short breaks) and costs £125 + VAT per delegate.
The workshop is subject to a minimum of 8 delegates per session and a maximum of 15.
