Contract Variation For Managers

Who should attend?

HR professionals and managers at all levels.

What’s covered?

How does an organisation go about introducing and enforcing a change to some or all employees’ contracts? Provided there is a sound business reason and the right process of consultation and communication is used, a company can change terms and conditions without fear of successful constructive dismissal claims.

This course covers:

  • the legal background to employment contracts and variations
  • what is a good business reason for a change?
  • when and how to consult with staff
  • collective consultation with employee representatives or unions
  • what records and written communication should there be?
  • enforcing changes and terminating the contract
  • minimising the risk of difficulties in defending tribunal claims

We use practical examples and case studies to ensure participation by all delegates, improve retention of information and to make the session as informal as possible.

What will delegates achieve?

By the end of the workshop session your delegates will:

  • be familiar with the content of the relevant law
  • be able to produce a sound business case for a variation to contracts
  • know how to manage the consultation process properly
  • ensure they record changes to contracts in the right way
  • be able to minimise the risk of tribunal claims

How long is it and how much?

This workshop session runs for 3 hours and costs only £75 + VAT per delegate.
The workshop is subject to a minimum of 8 delegates per session and a maximum of 15.
