The End Of The Line: Making Restrictive Covenants Work For You

Who should attend?

In house lawyers, HR professionals at all levels, directors and senior managers.

What’s covered?

We look at minimising the risk from the threat to a business of key staff leaving and setting up in competition or joining a rival company and taking customers and ex colleagues with them.

This course covers:

  • the legal framework for restrictive covenants and what can be legitimately protected
  • what goes wrong with most restrictions
  • how to draft and update covenants
  • how to introduce them into contracts
  • gathering evidence of potential breaches of covenants
  • threatening legal action
  • neutralising the threat of key staff leaving – garden leave and notice periods
  • the court process and injunctions
  • poaching staff or teams from competitors and how to minimise the risk

We use practical examples and case studies to ensure participation by all delegates, improve retention of information and to make the session as informal as possible.

What will delegates achieve?

By the end of the workshop session your delegates will:

  • understand the relevant law
  • know how to put in place a review or preparation of appropriate covenants
  • know about alternatives to restrictive covenants
  • understand their role in the legal process
  • be able to minimise exposure to court claims when hiring recruits with restrictions.

How long is it and how much?

This workshop session runs for 3 hours and costs only of £75 + per delegate.
The workshop is subject to a minimum of 8 delegates per session and a maximum of 15.
