Dismissing Employees: Getting It Right
Who should attend?
HR professionals at all levels and anyone with involvement in or responsibility for disciplining employees.
What’s covered?
There are many reasons why you may look to dismiss an employee and there are as many reasons why businesses often get it wrong. Understanding the Employment Tribunal’s expectations of you in each dismissal situation and how to follow through the process within those expectations gives you the best chance of successfully defending a claim. This course covers:
- the “fair” reasons for dismissal
- the importance of identifying where the problem lies
- the impact of the statutory procedures on dismissal
- conducting the disciplinary process from investigation to appeal
- decision making and implementing sanctions
- the place of compromise agreements
- tribunal expectations
- the cost of getting it wrong
We use practical, real life examples and case studies to ensure participation by all delegates, and to make the session as informal as possible.
What will delegates achieve?
By the end of the workshop session delegates will:
- know the legal requirements for dismissing employees
- be able to assess whether it is appropriate to move from informal to formal procedures
- recognise and avoid legal pitfalls
- know how to conduct a dismissal process from start to finish
- deal confidently with issues that arise during a dismissal process
- be able to conduct “without prejudice” discussions effectively
How long is it and how much?
This workshop session runs for 6 hours in total (with short breaks) and costs £125 + VAT per delegate.
The workshop is subject to a minimum of 8 delegates per session and a maximum of 15.
