Equality And Diversity Workshop
Who should attend?
HR professionals at all levels, in house lawyers, diversity officers and directors with no dedicated HR function.
What’s covered?
Promoting equality at work is often a thankless task. The law is always expanding making it a difficult area to tackle within the workplace. Employers often have policies on equality, but know little about using those policies to achieve change. We will take you through the myriad complexities of the law surrounding discrimination and equip you with practical solutions for managing every day equality issues.
This course covers:
- the equality legislation – sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, religion or belief and gender reassignment
- the types of claims flowing from the legislation
- how equality impacts on all areas of the business
- developing and implementing policies – making them work in practice
- dealing with equality complaints
- the statutory defence and minimising the cost to the business
We use case studies to ensure that delegates understand the practical application of equality legislation and employment law.
What will delegates achieve?
By the end of the workshop session your delegates will:
- understand the basic principles of discrimination and the risks of claims to your business
- be able to draft policies on equality
- know how to implement equality policies effectively
- be able to investigate and deal with allegations of discrimination
- pass on sensible and practical guidance to managers
- be able to build on existing knowledge to work towards training for managers
How long is it and how much?
This workshop session runs for 6 hours in total (with short breaks) and costs £125 + VAT per delegate.
The workshop is subject to a minimum of 8 delegates per session and a maximum of 15.
