Back to School

Trusts Schools is an area which is new to all; schools, local authorities and practitioners. It is an area that is sensitive; it changes the status of schools and forges partnerships with third parties that become an integral part of the schools constitution. It provides significant opportunities but also raises fundamental questions which need to be fully and sensitively considered.

Foot Anstey’s Trust School Team last term ran presentations on the legal aspects of changing to Trust School Status with particular focus on the property, charity and employment effects on the school. Aimed at anyone with an interest in making the change including Head teachers, teachers and governors it provided helpful guidance on a complicated situation. If you missed these presentations the Trust School team would be happy to provide advice to a governing body who would like to take advantage of this information. Foot Anstey are also offering a free half hour consultation up to half term.

The education sector is one that is constantly changing and covers a huge range of legal fields. We also advise the sector on employment, pensions, charity and commercial issues. We provide governance expertise including data protection, child protection, duty of care, discrimination, freedom of information, admission and exclusion issues. We have provided HR support, a wide range of property advice, tax and trust school status advice.

As the new school term gets underway we have launched dedicated web pages exclusively for the education sector. Please take a few moments to browse the pages and see what is in it for you. The importance of the web pages is that they should reflect the issues that are most important to our education sector clients at any one time. Thus, if anyone within the sector feels there is an area that demands greater attention we are happy to deepen the focus as required. As a forum, the aim is that it will come to reflect the relationship we have with our clients; knowledgeable, approachable and interactive.
