Cathryn read Law and Politics at Birmingham University. She started her legal career in London, joined Foot Anstey in 1990, becoming a Partner in 1993.
Cathryn advises a large number of publishers and broadcasters specialising in a variety of areas including libel, privacy, pre and post publication advice, contempt of court, human rights, confidentiality, court secrecy orders, data protection, copyright, trademark and passing off, Press Complaints Commission issues, advertising and Freedom of Information.
Cathryn has been involved in a number of high profile cases in recent years including a successful appeal to Privy Council by a Jamaican newspaper which extended the ambit of Common Law Qualified Privilege. She regularly writes articles on different aspects of Media Law and gives speeches at conferences held by the Newspaper Industry.
Cathryn is part of a Media Team which has a reputation for providing accurate, speedy and commercially realistic advice, compatible with her clients’ business goals.
