Richard is a partner and heads the firm’s commercial property unit in Plymouth.
Prior to joining Foot Anstey in 1998, Richard worked for a niche firm in the City of London where he gained broad commercial property experience, with a focus on development. This work included joint ventures and forward funding transactions.
Since joining Foot Anstey, Richard has continued to focus on commercial property development and acts for a number of private and public sector clients including private developers, banks and local authorities.
Recent transactions include acting for Tamar Science Park on its latest phase of development. This £23M project is part funded by the RDA and GOSW and will double the size of the science park. It follows on from the completion of a £16.5M HQ building for the Peninsula Medical School on the science park.
Richard was the lead property lawyer on a 30 year PFI waste management project under which 25 freehold and leasehold sites had to be transferred by a public body.
He has also advised banks on the security aspects of several commercial and residential schemes. Richard is also an elected member of the firm’s management board and a Business Governor of Plymouth College of Art and Design.
