Claire was born in Exeter and grew up and attended School and College in North and East Devon. She studied European Law and Languages (French and Spanish) at the University of the West of England and her LPC at Exeter University. Claire then trained and qualified in 1998 with a North Devon firm before moving to Clarke Willmott, where she specialised in clinical negligence claims as well as Multi Party Actions.
Claire represented the Bristol Heart Children’s Action Group at the Bristol Royal Infirmary Public Inquiry into Paediatric Heart surgery and also acted for a number of parents individually in their claims for compensation. She represented families across the country in the Chief Medical Officer’s Summit into Organ Retention and also in the Nationwide Organ Group Litigation, until deciding to focus solely on clinical negligence work.
Claire joined Foot Anstey in August 2005. She has a particular interest in paediatric surgery cases as well as birth injury cases leading to cerebral palsy. She works closely with the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society (Sands) acting for partents in claims involving stillbirths and neonatal deaths.
