Trouble Ahead for Businesses?
Kevin Butler, the regional South West agent for the Bank of England will present his views on the future of the economy at a breakfast seminar “There May be Trouble Ahead” on Wednesday 12 December 2007 at Foot Anstey’s offices in Exeter.
Kevin Butler is the Agent for the Bank of England’s South West Agency based in Exeter and provides regular economic presentations on the Bank’s Inflation Report and other economic statistics.
David Turner, partner at Foot Anstey said “Journalists are predicting a downturn in the economy and it is not every day that the Bank of England spends billions to help out other banks but so far we are not in a recession.
“The Bank of England is good at predicting the economy for the future, so this is an opportunity to hear their predictions and in particular how the South West could be affected.
“If there is a downturn one of the questions for Kevin Butler is ‘Will this area see more insolvencies than the national average and how will companies keep their market share?’ For the consumer the question must be how will a recession affect house prices and the ability for local people to buy their own home?”
The audience will also hear the steps they can take to minimise the impact of a possible recession.
