Foot Anstey Performs Well In Independent Deals Review

More deals are undertaken by south west solicitors Foot Anstey than any other law firm with offices in Devon and Cornwall, according to an independent survey published this month.

And Foot Anstey is shown as being neck and neck with the leading law firms in the south west in the survey, undertaken by regional accountants Francis Clark in conjunction with the Western Morning News.

Combining deals undertaken by Foot Anstey and Hancock Caffin, who merge on 1 December to form a 40 partner, £18m turnover business, the new firm is second only to Bond Pearce in the number of deals undertaken in 2007 and on the same basis last year would have been second only to Ashfords.

Head of the business and public sector group at Foot Anstey John Westwell said: “ This survey shows the steady development of Foot Anstey in the corporate business field and indicates our increasing importance in the south west in helping businesses achieve their goals.

“We are delighted to have such a prominent position in this survey and to see the recognition our lawyers have achieved in it”.

The survey shows that in the past year, Foot Anstey undertook more MBO/MBI work than any of its competitors and also handled more sales than any other law firm in the survey.

In tables prepared by Francis Clark, partner James Evans advised on more acquisitions than any other lawyer in the south west and both he and fellow partner Richard Coombs both appear in the top 10 of advisers on all corporate deals undertaken in 2007. In addition to James Evans and Richard Coombs, Helen Wallwork is also listed, making Foot Anstey the only law firm with three corporate lawyers featured in the tables.
