New President For Cornwall Law Society
Mark Chanter of Foot Anstey Hancock Caffin has been elected as President of the Cornwall Law Society for the coming year.
Mark Chanter said “It’s a great honour to represent over 150 members in our 125th year. Our rising membership reflects the growth in legal work in the area. We are seeing more commercial work staying inside the county. In years gone by the larger deals would go to London or Bristol but now they are handled by local law firms who can attract high quality staff. Our Young Solicitors Group runs a busy and lively programme of events as part of the overall group, showing just how attractive Cornwall has become for young lawyers.
Mark Chanter, born in Cornwall, joined Hancock Caffin 25 years ago and headed up his firm in their merger with South West law firm Foot Anstey. Mark added “Our merger and my election all happened on the same day! So the coming year promises to be busy both representing the law profession in Cornwall and working in a firm, who are repeatedly ranked in national directories such as the Legal 500 and Chambers as regional heavyweights”.
