Happily Ever After? - You choose!
For the first time Relate in Exeter will offer a ‘Relationship MOT’ called Happily Ever After at a seminar on Saturday January 26th 2008 in Exeter.
Relate counsellors together with Exeter law firm Foot Anstey will offer emotional and practical advice to couples entering a relationship or those wanting a new level of commitment, such as getting married, buying a house together or having a baby
Liz Meadows, Director of Exeter Relate said “Traditionally, Relate is viewed as the last resort for warring couples, who come to us when they feel they reach an insurmountable problem.
“We are delighted to be offering an opportunity for couples to learn how their relationship will bring them long-term happiness.
“Change is one of the biggest challenges for a relationship to overcome. Couples have different expectations of themselves and each other when they enter a new phase of their lives such as a new baby, buying a house together or getting married. It’s knowing how to deal with the stresses of these changes that can make all the difference.
“We all invest time and money in nurturing ourselves both physically and mentally, and making our daily routine run smoothly. After all the average Britain spends approximately 60 hours per year on looking after their teeth. So taking three hours to plan your future seems a good investment.”
Tamara Richardson, who heads Foot Anstey’s Living Together Team said “The law can often leave co-habiting couples at a legal disadvantage to their married counterparts. Many couples are unaware of this situation so taking advice at the beginning of a relationship can give the new family unit a secure future.
“The Happily Ever After course is informative, positive and thought provoking. Counsellors from Relate and specialist solicitors from the Living Together team will give practical advice on how to build a successful future together, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and participate in the various workshops, We hope everyone who attends the event will enjoy a long and happy relationship.”
