Family & Small Business Seminar

Exeter Chamber of Commerce and Industry are organising an event together with Foot Anstey Solicitors covering the new corporate manslaughter & corporate homicide act to keep you and your business up to date with changes within the law: the latest piece of legislation came into effect on 6 April 2008.

The Corporate Manslaughter and Homicide Act 2007 does not just cover big businesses it applies to every company, large or small, all corporate bodies, partnerships and even Government departments.

You need to ensure that your business manages the health and safety of its employees.

This legislation necessitates even greater scrutiny of health and safety and all organisations will need to take stock of their existing arrangements.

The event will provide the answers to the following questions:
• What does the new legislation mean?
• How do you avoid prosecution?
• What other factors should you consider?
• What happens if you have to defend an allegation?
• What are the ramifications of a conviction?

Speakers at the event are Nigel Lyons, Foot Anstey partner & prosecutor for the Health & Safety Executive and Helen Wallwork, associate in the commercial team at Foot Anstey.

The event takes place on 25 June 2008 at Exeter Phoenix. From 8.30am- 10am

To register your interest please contact Lisa: enquiries@exeterchamber.co.uk or telephone 01392 431133.
