Public Benefit - What Does It Means To Your Organisation
Leading south west charities solicitors Foot Anstey and arts governance and finance consultants Rick Bond from The Complete Works and Michael White from Devon Square Partners, have joined forces to help arts organisations plot an easy path through the 2006 Charities Act compliance requirements which became law this month.
They will present seminars for art organisations outlining actions required to comply with the Act and protect their charitable status.
The short but vitally informative seminar is for senior managers and trustees of arts organisations in Devon and Cornwall either with, or planning to apply for, charitable status.
Recent guidelines and interpretations issued by the Charity Commission alone amount to over 100 pages of small print. The seminar will explain the most relevant and important elements from an arts organisation’s perspective.
It offers guidance on the public benefit criteria and related issues such as membership, charging and reporting requirements.
For organisations that feel all or elements of their work may not be wholly compliant with the new charitable requirements, Michael and Rick will outline alternative options which afford a more entrepreneurial approach to arts development.
Two seminars are planned. Each runs for 2-hours from 4-6.00pm and includes time for networking.
The Cornwall seminar takes place at The Hall For Cornwall, Truro on Thursday 22nd May.
The Devon seminar will be held at The Phoenix on Thursday 12th June.
Fees are £20 per delegate or £30 for two. To reserve places or obtain further information contact
