National Appointment For Local Lawyer
Patricia Wass, partner and specialist in wills and the administration of estates at south west law firm Foot Anstey, received national recognition when she was appointed Chair of the Executive Committee of the Probate Section of the Law Society earlier this month.
The Probate Section provides best practice information and support to lawyers in England and Wales working in the fields of wills, financial planning, trusts, tax planning, Court of Protection, care planning and estate administration.
Patricia Wass said “’Lawyers face challenging times ahead with wills and probate work being opened up to other providers. We need to get the message across to the general public that solicitors with extensive training in this area are best placed to give professional and specialised advice.
“Another aim for the Probate Section is attracting new lawyers to this field. We want young lawyers who are just setting out in the legal profession to see working for private clients as a rewarding and worthwhile career choice.”
Locally Patricia Wass will be offering her advice at the Worldwide Financial Planning Seminar on the 18th July in Plymouth to brief employees of the Plymouth Primary Care Trust on planning their retirement.
Patricia Wass is also the Chair for the West of England Branch of STEP (The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners). STEP is a unique professional body offering education, training, representation and networking for members who are professionals specialising in trusts and estates, executorships, administration and related taxes. Members advise clients on the broad business of the management of personal finance. It crosses all professional disciplines dealing in the field of trusts and estate including solicitors, accountants, bankers and financial advisors.
