Taunton Deane Foot Anstey Aquathlon 2009

Entries are now open for individuals, teams and corporate entries to compete in the increasingly popular Taunton Deane Foot Anstey Aquathlon to be held on Sunday 22nd February 2009 at the Wellington Sports Centre.

The Aquathlon caters for all levels of fitness and stamina with competitors able to enter either the short or longer distance race. The short distance involves swimming 500m and running 5k and the longer race is a 1000m swim followed by a 10k run. To make it completely fair, individuals compete against others in the same age category which range from 14-15 yrs Youths to 60+yrs Vintage Veterans.

Team entries enable one competitor to do the swim element and the other to do the run. Teams can be all male, all female or mixed and can enter either distance.

The Corporate Challenge is for any business, school, club or organisation who enter a team in each of the three team categories, one all male, one all female and one mixed – with all three teams competing over the same distance.

David Turner of Foot Anstey said "Aquathlons are great fun and a good way of working off the extra pounds put on over Christmas. Some competitors use the Aquathlon to kick start their training regime, plus it’s a good introduction to the Triathlon held in May.

“We at Foot Anstey will be entering a team and are looking forward to competing against other local businesses.”

With only 200 places available competitors are encourage to get their entry forms in early. The closing date for entries is Wednesday 4th February 2009.

The organisers of the event are Tone Leisure and Somerset RC TRi Club.
