Help For Growing Businesses

Growing and protecting business are the theme for the latest Foot Anstey Business Seminar to be held in Exeter on 27 March 2007.

Richard Coombs, business lawyer at South West law firm Foot Anstey explains.
“Expansion is obviously key to any business but for many it proves to be a difficult and expensive activity. Our seminar will give practical advice for businesses looking to move forward in a way that benefits their bottom line” .

Talking about growth Marlene Naumann will examine ways companies establish and protect their brands. This adds value to the brand making the business more attractive to investors.

Floating on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) can offer an avenue for attracting investment but it has recently received bad press. James Evans still believes AIM offers real benefits for certain businesses, and he will look at the pros and cons.

All companies need to be careful not to break competition law rules when dealing with others, either through terms of business or joining forces with each other. Rachel Robinson will explain the possible penalties and how to avoid the pitfalls using recent examples of the landmark consumer action lead by ‘Which?’ against the football shirt cartel and the investigation into Independent Schools price fixing.

Finally, Helen Wallwork will look at how the Companies Act 2006 will affect businesses from October 1st 2007 including a new right for shareholders to sue the directors and the introduction of a statutory statement of directors duties.
