Designs Upon Success
Builders and architects working in South East Cornwall are being invited to enter the eighth Caradon Design Awards for excellence in architectural and design work in local building projects.
The scheme, which is jointly sponsored by Caradon District Council and Foot Anstey Solicitors, aims to encourage a higher standard of design and building in the district.
Awards are given for both new development and restoration work that has significantly improved the local environment. The eight award categories are: new housing, new industrial buildings, new community buildings, new commercial buildings, restoration and/or conversion of existing buildings, residential extensions, small scale improvements to the local scene/landscaping and best overall scheme.
Any public or private sector scheme completed in the Caradon district between 1 January 2005 and 31 December 2006 is eligible for the 2007 awards. The biennial awards last took place in 2005 with some 30 projects competing across the categories. The 2005 winners included a Grade II listed mine captain’s house, a village green and a farmhouse.
Entries for the Caradon Design Awards 2007 must be received by Friday 11 May 2007, and final judging and presentation of the awards will take place in July.
Entry forms are available from Caradon by ringing 01579 341459.
