Northcliffe Sells Retail Division
Northcliffe Media Limited, one of the largest regional newspaper publishers in the UK and the parent company of local publications including Western Morning News, Exeter Express and Echo, Plymouth Herald and the Torquay Herald Express, has sold its retail shop estate to Rippleglen Limited for £8.2m.
The 61 "news" shops, spread across the East Midlands, stock a wide range of convenience goods and, of course, Northcliffe’s local titles. Northcliffe decided to sell this profitable arm of its business to concentrate on the continued growth of its regional newspaper network. The two companies, who already have a strong commercial relationship, will also be working together in the future in promoting the sale of Northcliffe’s regional newspapers.
Northcliffe were represented by south west law firm, Foot Anstey. Lead partner, Mark Lewis commented, " We value greatly our longstanding relationship with Northcliffe Media Ltd and are delighted to have been able to act for them on this disposal".
