Foot Anstey Expands In Plymouth To Sutton Harbour Location
22 August 2007
South West law firm Foot Anstey is moving from Derry’s Cross to a new bigger office at Salt Quay, Sutton Harbour once the building is complete at the beginning of 2009.
The new purpose built seven storey office at Salt Quay will overlook the harbour to give spectacular marine views and provide 42,000 sq ft of high quality accommodation for both clients and staff.
John Westwell, Project Partner, said “Foot Anstey’s office has always been in the heart of the city centre and this move renews our commitment to the people of Plymouth and gives us space for further expansion. Foot Anstey currently employs over 300 staff throughout the South West.”
“We have listened to our clients about the services and facilities they seek and the office has been designed with their needs in mind. Number one on the list was a city location with access to car parking.
“The new building at Salt Quay gives us space to accommodate our expansion plans, in a modern and comfortable working environment, for giving legal advice to businesses, the public sector and individuals.
"The regeneration of the harbour area will deliver a key aspiration of the Mackay plan for Plymouth and we are delighted that by working with the Sutton Harbour Group we can occupy our new office at the heart of it. We are grateful for the support we have received from Nigel Godefroy and his team at Sutton Harbour and we look forward to moving in to what I am sure will be a landmark building for the area”.
The new building is on the site of the former Salt Quay House and will be leased from the Sutton Harbour Group. Nigel Godefroy, managing director of the Sutton Harbour Group, said: “We are delighted to have attracted such a prestigious occupier as Foot Anstey to the harbour and it demonstrates the strong demand for high quality office space in the city".
Foot Anstey is committed to becoming the premier law firm on the south west peninsula with high quality offices in Exeter, Taunton and now Plymouth.
The new building will have numerous client meeting rooms with state of the art conferencing facilities. Alongside the lawyers, the new building will also house the support services for Foot Ansteys’ other three offices in the South West. These include IT, accounts, marketing, human resources and facilities management.
Plymouth based architects, Form Design Group have designed a contemporary and imaginative building with large expanses of glass, zinc cladding and Plymouth limestone. It meets the latest environmental standards and incorporates various energy saving devices. It is intended to use the harbour water with heat exchangers to provide renewable energy for heating and cooling parts of the building.
Foot Anstey will provide clients and visitors with underground car parking and continue to promote its green travel policy for staff of using public transport, cycling and lift sharing through the provision of cycle racks, showers and other facilities.
The new building will create a physical memory of the old Salt Quay House by incorporating stone from the old building in the covered walkway at the front of the building.
The move to new premises in Plymouth completes a programme of office renewal for Foot Anstey having opened its second office in Taunton earlier this year and a new office in Exeter in October 2005.
