Life at Foot Anstey

Matt Gingell - Newly Qualified

Matt Gingell

I qualified into the Intellectual Property and IT department in June 2007 and haven’t looked back. Even before qualification I was fully supported and encouraged to take on my own cases and feel that my opinions always count. Foot Anstey are keen to promote professional development post qualification and are sponsoring me to study a postgraduate course in Intellectual Property.

Obviously, there are times when we have to work hard in this department and like any job there are always parts you don’t enjoy. However, my team is really supportive and are very inclusive so I have no hesitation in saying that the good outweighs the bad.

The firm as a whole is very sociable and I genuinely like the people I work with. I think this stems from being a full service practice and the diversity of personalities that brings.

Looking forward as an NQ at Foot Anstey I am excited by the opportunities. The recent mergers and the Firm’s ambition to become the premier law firm in the South West should mean that there will be good opportunities for career progression. With this in mind the firm runs a junior marketing and business development scheme that allows newly qualified solicitors to get out in the market place and become known at an early stage.

Having worked in the city and the Westcountry I can safely say that I have chosen the right place and firm to practice.
